Computing
At All Saints and St Margarets, our intent for Computing is to equip every child with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become capable, creative and responsible users of technology.
As a mixed-age setting, we provide a progressive and inclusive Computing curriculum that enables children of different ages and abilities to develop their understanding at an appropriate level, while learning alongside and supporting one another.
Through computer science, information technology and digital literacy, children develop computational thinking, problem-solving and logical reasoning skills. They are given opportunities to explore, create, communicate, collaborate and use technology purposefully across the curriculum and in real-life contexts.
We recognise that children enter our mixed-age classes with varied experiences and levels of digital confidence. Our teaching therefore provides appropriate challenge, scaffolding and opportunities for independence, allowing children to revisit and build upon prior learning while developing increasingly sophisticated knowledge and skills.
We place a strong emphasis on online safety and responsible digital citizenship, helping children understand how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly. Children are encouraged to think critically about digital content, make informed choices and understand how their actions can affect themselves and others.
Ultimately, we want our children to leave our school as confident, curious and responsible digital learners, equipped with the skills to use technology creatively, safely and effectively, both in school and beyond.
