Welcome to Class 1 All Saints (Reception, Year 1 & Year 2)
Welcome to our class page. We hope you enjoy looking at all our hard work!
Being prepared for school each day
Children will need their waterproof coat, a bag for reading books and homework.
Please ensure your child brings in their book bag daily and their reading book for their allocated reading book change day.
Pencil cases and other school equipment will be provided for children by school. It is important that we limit what is being brought into school, so pencil cases and other accessories from home won’t be needed.
Break and lunch times
Children have one breaktime in the morning. For this time, they are welcome to bring a healthy snack with them to eat during break. Fruit is provided for children in Class 1.
Lunch time school dinner
This includes a main meal, dessert and a drink. Most schools offer 2 choices of main meal or a jacket potato, vegetables, salad, fresh fruit, bread and drinking water are freely available every day.
Just a reminder that universal free school meals are available up to the end of Year 2. From Year 3 onwards, if your child isn’t entitled to free school meals, you’ll need to pay for their dinners.
Primary food explorers – Derbyshire Catering Service
Forest Schools session will take place every 6 weeks. The children will be getting changed at school. They will need to come into school wearing their school uniform with a bag of clothes that are suitable for outdoor activities and during the colder months we ask that your child brings a hat and gloves.

PE
Class 1 have PE on Thursdays. PE kits should be left in school for the whole week as the children will sometimes take part in sporting activities at short notice. PE kits consist of Black Joggers/leggings, white t-shirt, black jumper/hoodie and a pair of trainers.

Class 1 had a fabulous time at Forest School today with Inside Out!
The children loved exploring the outdoors, taking part in nature activities, and enjoying lots of hands-on learning. They showed great teamwork, curiosity, and confidence throughout the session. 
Class 1 Footytotz star of the week!
Class 1 have been finding out about homes in the past. We were shocked to discover that people didn’t have bathrooms in their houses or washing machines. We tried doing some washing using a “dolly tub” and a “dolly stick”. It was very hard work!
Class 1 had a visit to All Saints Church and have been learning about The Story of Creation in RE.
On Monday the children participated in Forest School. We had lots of fun- making crafts, exploring and learning about the Autumn Season!

🌟 Class 1 Adventures! 🌟
Our Reception and Year 1 children have been busy learning both indoors and outdoors. Inside the classroom they’ve enjoyed phonics, number games and plenty of creative fun 🎨📚. Outdoors they’ve been exploring nature, building, climbing and practising their teamwork skills 🌿🏗️🤸.
It’s lovely to see their curiosity and confidence growing every day! 💛

Reading stars – Bronze
For RSE, we follow the ‘Ten Ten: Life to the Full Plus’ scheme. Each term, we focus on a different element of the scheme, linking PSHE and RSE. The moduled are as follows:
Advent – Created and Loved by God
Lent – Created to Love Others
Pentecost – Created to Live in Community
For RE, we follow the RED curriculum. This curriculum enables us to know more and think more deeply about our faith. Each half term we study a different ‘branch’ of the curriculum. These branches are the same throughout the school, with children building on their key knowledge as they progress through school. The branches are as follows:
Advent 1 – Creation and Covenant
Advent 2 – Prophecy and Promise
Lent 1- Galilee to Jerusalem
Lent 2 – Desert to Garden
Pentecost 1 – To the Ends of the Earth
Pentecost 2 – Dialouge and Encounter
Homework is sent out weekly on a Friday.
Phonics: Sounds learnt each week.
Maths: Focusing on key skills.
Timestables: For children in Year 2.
Reading Books: We encourage you to listen to your child read each night. Each read will be acknowledged with a Gold Stamp. Your child will be rewarded after 50 reads, 100 reads, 150 reads and 200 reads.
Children in Reception will receive a book to share with you at home from the school library. These count towards reads. The children will receive a reading book over the next few weeks.
Reading regularly builds confidence and fluency and supports the hard work they do in school!
Please check in your child’s reading record when their book change day is.
